Day 6, we wanted to get to Autun but I miscalculated the distance, it was far too far for today, an extra 23km on the 93 we had done. Cycling 93km was enough in this heat and it has brought us to a beautiful campsite in Epinac.
Epinac looks like an old mining village because on the way in we passed a closed mine.
The cycling route today took us off the Velo 6 and onto the green cycle route 51 through the beautiful Bourgogne vinyards. Vineyards don't offer a lot of shade and today was really super hot, we were also always climbing, climbing, climbing so it was a very tough day.
This route is totally different to the River and canal route, we went through pretty villages, and saw some great views on our climb up as we scattered lizards from under our wheels.
Christoph did really well on his new bike, the gears don't really go low enough for some of the hills but he survived 😊
