Day 11 From La Châtre to Saint Gaultier

Published on 11 August 2024 at 20:19

Hot hot hot that’s the weather situation yesterday and today. Again we started out early to beat the heat but by midday we were ready for an ice cold beer or two which we gulped down in Argenton-sur-cruese , a picturesque village on the river Cruese.

The morning route again took us along the pilgrim route (Velo route 46) the first 20km were mostly quiet road but later we went onto a green way through forest when we started to follow the Voie vert Velo route 94 towards the Brenne area.

Today we stay in the old fortified village of Saint Gaultier, on this hot Sunday afternoon it is very deserted . But the river Cruese runs along side and it’s the main attraction for families to cool down. We could really do with a cold beer again🙈 The municipal campsite where we stay has a fridge with soft drinks, but a tip, it's hidden behind the counter, you need to ask for it. The young girl working there at the moment is really very friendly and helpfully sweet and when I looked in the fridge I saw quite a few bottles of sparkling wine, she told me they're for Fridays, they're free to drink with the campers because we love them😉 This Sunday has a Friday feeling  😅

There’s really a lot more to explore in this area, unfortunately we don’t have time to do more village hopping.
